7Artisans AF 10mm f/2.5 MAX
Fisheye lenses are usually manual focus, niche, and a little awkward to use for anything but a specific look. 7Artisans’ AF 10mm f/2.5 MAX, announced August 27, 2026, tries to change the first part of that. It is a full-frame autofocus fisheye, with a 185 degree diagonal field of view, for $449.

LensGeeks has not tested this lens yet. This article is based on 7Artisans’ specifications and launch coverage.
What it is
The MAX is a diagonal fisheye, not a circular fisheye. It fills the full-frame sensor, with a bent, exaggerated perspective, rather than a round image in the middle of the frame. That makes it usable for landscapes, architecture, interiors, astro, action, events, and experimental portraiture, where distortion is the point.
Optically, it uses 11 elements in 8 groups, with 2 ED and 1 aspherical element, and a 9-blade aperture from f/2.5 to f/16. The minimum focus distance is 0.15m, which lets you get very close and exaggerate the foreground further.
Autofocus is by STM stepper motor. That is a real departure, because most fisheyes in this price range are manual focus, so autofocus makes the MAX plausible for action, vlogging, and video. It also supports A-B Focus, a video feature that automates focus transitions between two saved distances.
Controls are more complete than expected: a clicked aperture ring (also de-clickable), an AF/MF switch, two customizable function buttons, a metal barrel, weather sealing with a mount gasket, and USB-C for firmware updates. There is no image stabilization, and because of the bulbous front element, there is no filter thread.

Final thoughts
A fisheye will never be an everyday lens for most people, and this one does not pretend otherwise. What it does is remove one of the usual barriers: manual focus. With autofocus, a fast f/2.5 for night sky work, and a 0.15m close focus, it moves from novelty to working tool for action, astro, and video, at a reasonable price for a specialized full-frame prime.
What we want to test is edge performance, coma for astro, and whether autofocus is actually reliable at 10mm, where depth of field is already huge. Until then, it has a strong, specific proposition: if you want a fisheye and you want autofocus, there are very few options at this price.
