TTArtisan AF 24mm f/3.8 Mini

TTArtisan’s AF 24mm f/3.8 Mini is a lens that exists because someone asked how small a full-frame autofocus lens can actually be. The answer, in October 2026, is 16mm long, 60mm in diameter, and 57g, lighter than a standard Sony NP-FZ100 battery, for $99.

LensGeeks has not tested this lens yet. This article is based on TTArtisan’s specifications and launch coverage.

What it is

The Mini is a full-frame 24mm pancake, with an 84 degree angle of view, and a 36mm equivalent on APS-C. It uses 6 elements in 6 groups, with 2 aspherical and 2 extra-low dispersion elements, and a voice coil motor (VCM) for autofocus, with eye and face detection on compatible Sony cameras. It also has a built-in, lever-operated lens cover, so there is no separate cap to lose, and a USB-C port for firmware updates.

The trade-offs, stated plainly

First, the aperture is fixed at f/3.8. You cannot stop down. Exposure and depth of field are controlled by shutter speed, ISO, or an ND filter, not by the lens. Second, there is no manual focus at all. This is autofocus only, so if autofocus misses, or you want to zone focus, this is not the lens for that. Third, compatibility is not universal. TTArtisan lists partial compatibility, with limited autofocus, on the original Sony a7S, a5000, and a5100. Most modern Sony bodies are fully compatible, but check the list if you shoot with an older body.

Those trade-offs are the price of the size. A 57g full-frame lens with a variable aperture and manual focus would not be 57g, or 16mm long.

Final thoughts

This is not a lens you buy as your only 24mm. You buy it because it disappears into a pocket, turns a full-frame body into a walkaround camera, and costs less than most filters. For street, travel, and everyday shooting in good light, f/3.8 and autofocus-only may be enough. For low light, portraits with shallow depth of field, or precise manual work, it will not be.

That narrow, honest use case is what makes it interesting. It does not pretend to be everything.
